Dr Hanif Lalani OBE
Fellow of the Chartered Management Accounts

Hanif Lalani has developed a portfolio of roles during 2010 that includes Investment Ambassador to Northern Ireland, Non Executive Director at Easynet, on the Advisory board of Morgan Franklin and as a Senior Deals Advisor to a variety of Private Equity companies. Hanif was appointed Chief Executive of BT Global Services in October 2008. Hanif joined the BT Group plc Board in February 2005 when he was appointed Group Finance Director.

Hanif named Finance Director of the year in 2008 by the Confederation of British industry. In July 2009 and July 2010, Hanif was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Bedfordshire and University of Essex in recognition of his achievements in management in the telecommunications industry.

Hanif was born in Uganda in 1962 and moved to the UK with his family in 1972. He was educated at Wetherby High School and later attended Essex University where he gained his BA Honours Degree. He is married to Sharmin and has a young family and is a very keen Leeds United supporter.
Robert Ashcroft

William So

William So William has 30 years of international experience in IT and Telecommunications. He was born in Hong Kong, and subsequently educated both in Hong Kong and the UK. Having obtained an honors degree in Computing Science from Imperial College London in 1981, he joined IBM and embarked on his professional career. William has held various management positions with IBM China and IBM Hong Kong before moving to a subsidiary of Legend Computers (now Lenovo) as Managing Director in charge of both the Eastern and Central European markets.

In 2000, William joined China Netcom Group, a Chinese State-Owned Enterprise, as the Head of International Operations. He created and developed the group’s International businesses and established several overseas branches. The Group later merged with part of China Telecom, and subsequently with China Unicom, becoming one of the largest telecommunications service providers in China. During this period William held a variety of executive management positions at the company’s headquarters in Beijing. Early 2007 William was transferred to Hong Kong as the CEO for Asian and Middle East operations. In 2008, he was transferred to London as President of the European and African operations until July 2010. November 2010 William accepted a position on the 3rd Space Advisory Board to help position and develop the company in Asia.
